A must visit place amidst the barren and stark Nubra valley is Diskit Monastery. This place belongs to the yellow hat section of Tibetan Buddhism. It is also very popular as the largest and ancient monastery in the Nubra valley. The monastery features a distinctive sculpture of Champa inside the prayer hall. 

It also runs a school in collaboration with an NGO, which is known as ‘The Tibet support group.’ You can travel here crossing the Khardung La pass or Wari La Pass. July and September are the best time to plan a visit to Diskit Monastery.
